KARACHI, June 13: Commer-cial aviation environment and various other issues confronting the Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) came under discussion at a meeting of its board of directors held here on Friday with Defence Minister Chaudhry Ahmed Mukhtar in the chair. The minister is also chairman of the board.

Director-General of the Civil Aviation Authority Farooq Rehmatullah, along with other officials, gave a detailed presentation on strategic options. PIA Managing Director Capt Mohammad Aijaz Haroon briefed the meeting on short and long-term measures being taken to streamline PIA’s affairs. The meeting was told that the PIA management was working on a strategic plan which would be presented to the board soon.—APP
