HYDERABAD, June 12: Only two per cent of youths of 17 to 23 years of age are enroled in universities, which is a very low percentage in higher education. This was said by Prof Dr Arif Zaidi, Vice-Chancellor of the Government College University Faisalabad at the inaugural session of a two-day meeting of heads of Quality Enhancement Cell of the universities of Pakistan at the Sindh University on Wednesday.

Prof Zaidi said that it was vital for every university to improve its enrolment system, faculty recruitment, improvement of education system and assessment of performance.

The first session of the meeting was technical session.

Self assessment reports of universities’ model departments were presented by various universities and quarterly progress reports of the cell were also reviewed.

In the second session, the representatives of the cell of different universities presented progress reports of their model institutes and departments.—Bureau
