Man killed, wife injured on road

LAHORE, June 11: A motorcyclist was killed and his wife injured when a speeding truck hit them on Bund Road on Wednesday.

Sherakot police said Abdul Majeed of Shadbagh was going along with his wife, Tasleema, when a truck hit their motorcycle. The couple sustained critical injuries while the truck driver managed to escape. The injured were taken to Mayo Hospital where Majeed died.

Sattokatla police said Naveed was entering his house after offering Fajr prayers when two armed men held him up at gunpoint. On raising alarm, they shot at and injured him and escaped.The injured was taken to the Jinnah Hospital.

ROBEBRIES: Four robbers stormed into the house of Sakhawat in China Scheme in Gujjarpura police precincts and took away Rs60,000 in cash, three cell phones and a car.

Two gun-toting men entered the house of Sohail in XX-Block in DHA and escaped after looting Rs6,000 in cash and 15-tola jewellery. Robbers looted a house in Ali Block of Garden Town.

Three armed men barged in the house of Imran, held inmates at gunpoint, collected Rs125,000 in cash and eight-tola gold ornaments and fled on the house owner’s car.

Three gun-toting men stormed into the pharmacy of Zulfikar in Shadman police precincts and took away Rs70,000 in cash and medicines.

As many robbers on a car stopped Sohail and his wife in Liaquatabad police precincts and snatched from them cash, jewellery and cell phones.

Two armed motorcyclists stopped Usman in Harbanspura police precincts and snatched Rs45,000 in cash and a cell phone from him.— Staff Reporter
