RAWALPINDI, June 11: A bailiff appointed by district and sessions judge here on Wednesday recovered six men from the illegal custody of Kahuta police and handed them over to their relative.

Malik Lal raided the Kahuta police station on the complaint of Raja Habibur Rehman Advocate and recovered Shabbir Hussain, Raja Pehlwan Khan, Mohammad Pervaiz, Amjad Hussain, Shaukat Hussain and Afzal and handed them over to the complainant.

The bailiff told the judge Attaullah Kosar that there was neither a complaint nor a criminal case registered against the men in the Roznamcha of the police.

According to the complainant, the police picked the men three days ago, saying they would be interrogated in a wood theft case.

The judge directed the SHO to appear in the court on June 16 and explain why the men were kept in unlawful confinement. Meanwhile, an additional district and sessions judge issued non-bailable arrest warrants of SHO Gujar Khan for not appearing in the court to submit his reply in a petition seeking registration of a kidnapping for ransom case.

The judge Rana Muhammad Ali also served show-cause notice on a sub-inspector and directed him to appear in the court on June 14.

Mohammad Jehangir told the court that he approached the Gujar Khan police to get a case registered after he was kidnapped on May 26 last year and released after he paid Rs400,000 as a ransom.

HEARING PUT OFF: Two anti-terrorism courts put off different cases owing to the boycott of lawyers.

Hearing in the case of Shaukat Aziz attack was adjourned till June 24. The same court deferred the hearing in the case of attack on a missionary school in Murree in 2002 after recording the statement of a police official.

The ATC-I judge put off the hearing in the murder case of Maulana Azam Tariq till July 5.
