LAHORE, June 10: Four-year-old chestnut filly Bubbly should be all set to break her duck on the victory statistics table when the midweek day/night Lahore Gymkhana races get underway at the Racecourse on Wednesday evening.

Owned by Shahzada Salman Jawad, Bubbly has not won a race in her three outings to date being beaten by colt Baray Lal on her first run last Wednesday after leading a major part of the 900-metres race. She will be going all out to make amends this time by winning the race.

The unknown pedigree filly is contesting in the third race, the Pak Pattan Plate class VII, division I handicap race to go over the sprinting distance of 1,000 metres.

Shandar, Sohna Murad and Leader’s Wing should fight for places. In all, the race comprises 16 contestants barring last-minute withdrawals.

The feature event and the sixth race, the Muridke Plate, class VI, division II has eight runners. Three of them, namely, Naseeb Apna Apna, Sona and Batista come into reckoning on present form and performance. They should fight to pick up the spoils.

Red Roan filly Snow Fall, who registered a facile victory on May 14 last, will be on the trot to make it two-in-a-row in the supporting and fifth race, the Muridkey Plate, class VI, division III and IV run over the sprinting distance of 1,000 metres. Pumey De Jan, High Quality and Red Baron should fight for places.

Pretty, Khan Baba and Basant Mayla should make a mark in the fourth race. Khan Baba, who has been knocking at victory’s door is a better speedster and should prevail over the others. Pretty and Basant Mayla too are form horses, showing improvement when properly fit.

Former national hockey captain Munir Dar has fielded three of his stable horses, namely, Pakistani, Independence Day and Polo Lounge in the second race.

They all seem fine on track work but the trump card would be known to his son Tauqeer Dar, the caretaker and controller of his stable. Still Sana and Kiss Of Love are the in form choices.

The bay mare Anarkali, who was beaten by Sohna Murad on June 4, should make amends this time to win the first race with Kundan, Gypsy and Billoo Love fighting for places. A card of six races is to go through in the day/night midweek racing programme. All races will be contested over the sprinting distance of 1,000 metres.

The race for class VI, division I to be run over 1,000 metres has been cancelled because of the paucity of the required number of runners. The first race will be held at 5.00pm.
