BAHAWALPUR, June 10: Local lawyers staged a motorcycle rally ahead of the arrival of long march caravans from Karachi, interior Sindh and Balochistan here on Tuesday.

The motorcycle rally was brought out from barroom to the railway station. Scores of lawyers participated in the rally led by high court bar association president Malik Muhammed Aslam Channar. Participants raised slogans for the restoration of deposed judges.

Later, in the evening, the bar members led by president Yahya Khan staged a torch-bearing rally from Fowara Chowk to Farid Gate to create awareness among the general public about the ongoing lawyers’ movement. The leaders made speeches at Farid Gate, from where they dispersed peacefully.

Meanwhile, a warm welcome was accorded to lawyers’ caravans from Sindh and Balochistan on their way to Multan.

The members of Ahmedpur East bar and activists of political parties were present in large numbers at the Channigoth Chowk to welcome the march participants.
