SWABI: Boy dies of snake bite

Published June 11, 2008

SWABI, June 10: The non-availability of anti-snake bite vaccine at the DHQ hospital, Swabi, caused the death of a young man here on Tuesday.

Hailing from Bakar village, about 10 kilometers from the district headquarters, the 19-year-old Ikramullah was bitten by a snake while working in the fields.

His family brought him to the DHQ hospital in serious condition but due to the non-availability of anti-snake bite vaccine at the hospital, he was referred to the Lady Reading Hospital, Peshawar, but he died on his way.

Meanwhile, district nazim Shahram Khan Tarakai has taken serious notice of the shortage of the anti-snake bite vaccine at the DHQ hospital and directed the authorities concerned to take prompt measures to ensure an adequate supply of the vaccine to the hospital.
