THATTA, June 9: The seawater, which had rushed into more than 40 coastal villages due to tidal waves have started receding, bringing life to normalcy.

The villages along Hajmaro Creek, Kharo Chhan and Keti Bandar coastal area, 89 kilometres from here, were the worst affected.

The president of Thatta chapter of Pakistan Fisherfolk Forum, Syed Gulab Shah, and president of Delta Development Organisation, Shafi Marghar, told journalists that the high tidal waves in costal belt had caused heavy losses.

But Thatta DCO Laiq Ahmed saw it as a normal phenomenon during monsoon season. Coastal villages experienced such situation when seawater intruded their homes this time of the year, said a press release.

He said that no loss of life or property was reported from any part of the district, so evacuation was not necessary. A total of 13 villages in Keti Bandar, three in Kharo Chhan, 11 in Ghorabari were affected, the release said.
