The session began an hour behind the scheduled time of 10am during which the treasury members raised slogans “Go Musharraf Go.” They raised the slogans every time an opposition member, including Chaudhry Zaheer, tried to say anything, subduing their voice with their sloganeering.

Soon after the session began a PPP MPA stood up to request the speaker to allow recitation of `naat’. Another PPP MPA recited it after the permission was granted. A verse “Madina Jawan Wapis Na Awan” (I wish to go to Madina and never return) made some MPAs laugh probably because of the thought of the Sharif’s forced exile to Saudi Arabia.

PPP’s Raja Riaz changed the topic by referring to President Musharraf’s comment that inefficient rulers destroyed countries. He said Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain and Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi had made Pakistan weak and “we will now jointly overcome all problems it is facing now.”

This made almost all treasury members raise slogans of “shame shame.” The slogans dominated the voice of PML-Q’s Chaudhry Zaheer. All one could hear him say was that the president had referred to the present rulers who could not lower inflation and unemployment despite tall claims.

He also complained that the house had not been divided despite preparation of charts. “Our MPAs are outside the assembly because the treasury members are occupying our seats,” he said.

He also warned that nobody would be allowed to speak in the assembly if the treasury members continued to boo the opposition.
