Aamir stuns Safeer

ISLAMABAD, June 6: The first round of the main draw of 19th Chief of the Air Staff (CAS) International Squash Championship concluded on Friday at the Mushaf Squash Complex with all seeded players making it to the quarter-finals.

Aamir Atlas Khan, top seed of the championship, won the match handily defeating compatriot Safeerullah Khan, a wild card entry, sweeping the game 3-0. Aamir beat Safeer 11-7, 11-9, 11-6.

Mohammad El Shorbagy (Egypt), world ranking 69, took Tom Richard (England), world ranking 64, 11-13, 15-13, 11-7, 11-5 (3-1).

Jan Koukal (Czech Republic), world ranking 47, bounced Shams-ul-Islam (Pakistan), world ranking 90, 11-7, 11-2, 11-9 (3-0) and Aaron Frankcomb (Australia), world ranking 50, beat Khawaja Adil (Pakistan), world ranking 76, 9-11, 11-7, 11-4, 12-10 (3-1).

Aamir Atlas Khan will face Yasir Butt in the opening match of the quarter-finals.

The quarter-finals of CAS Squash Championship will start today (Saturday).

Farhan Mehboob (Pakistan) bt Amjad Khan (Pakistan) 11-4, 11-4, 11-5 (3-0).

Mansoor Zaman (Pakistan) bt Arshad Iqbal Barki (Pakistan) 11-6, 11-5, 12-10 (3-0).
