R&D support sought

KARACHI, June 6: The Pakistan Leather Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (Plgmea) has urged the government to allow research and development (R&D) support to the industry.

In a statement issued here on Friday, Plgmea chairman Fawad Ijaz Khan pointed out that all the time there had been talk about giving R&D on textile and garments exports, whereas leather garment exporters were also faced with similar issues.

He suggested to the government to immediately allow 6 per cent R&D to leather garment exporters which would help them to capture markets lost by Chinese and Indian exporters.
