HYDERABAD, June 4: Law-yers of Sindh have decided to ensure their maximum participation in June 10 long march aimed at getting deposed judges of apex and high courts reinstated.

A decision to this effect was taken at a joint meeting of lawyers at the Hyderabad High Court Bar here on Wednesday. Chairman of the Sindh Bar Council’s executive committee Haleem Siddiqui presided over the meeting which was attended by SBC members Mehmoodul Hassan, Mohammad Ali Abbas, Mohammad Hakim, Mustafa Lakhani, Sathi Ishaq, Salahuddin Gandapur, Ali Mohammad Dahiri, Sher Mohammad Wassan, Muzaffar Leghari and the office-bearers of the district bar associations of Hyderabad, Thatta, Naushahro Feroze, Dadu, Mirpurkhas, Sanghar, Nawabshah, Umerkot, Sanghar and Badin.

In their brief speeches, the lawyers vowed to make the long march a grand success and ensure maximum participation of Sindh’s lawyers in it.

The lawyers decided to hire buses and wagons besides using their own vehicles. They decided that lawyers from Karachi, Badin, Thatta, Umerkot, Mirpurkhas and Sanghar would jointly leave for Multan from Hyderabad bypass. Lawyers from Dadu, Nawabshah and upper Sindh would leave separately but at some destination they would form one caravan to become part of main caravan of lawyers in Multan.

The lawyers discussed issues of discipline in the caravan to ensure that no third party could take undue advantage of the historic event.

They said that the lawyers should maintain discipline in their rank and file.

It is learnt that Hyderabad-based lawyers are scheduled to hold a meeting with some civil society organisations because many of them are eager to join the long march.

Activists of component parties of the All Pakistan Democratic Movement are also keen to join the march. They would work out modalities in the meeting which would be attended by the HCBA and HDBA office-bearers in Latifabad.
