LAHORE, May 30: The PML-N has announced its candidates for bypolls on five National Assembly and nine provincial assembly seats in Punjab. A decision on five provincial assembly seats has been deferred.

According to a press release issued by the party after a joint meeting of the central and provincial parliamentary board, PML-N patron Nawaz Sharif’s son-in-law Capt Safdar will run for NA-52, Rawalpindi; Haji Pervez Khan for NA-55, Rawalpindi; former chief minister Shahbaz Sharif’s son Hamza Shahbaz for NA-119, Lahore; Nawaz Sharif for NA-123, Lahore; and Rana Ateeq Anwar for NA-131, Sheikhupura.

The board decided not to field party candidate for NA-147, Okara, from where Khurram Wattoo, the son of Manzoor Wattoo (who has recently joined the PPP), is contesting.

For PP seats, Punjab Law Minister Rana Sanaullah will contest from PP-70, Faisalabad; Hasan Saifullah Buttar PP-99, Gujranwala; Shahbaz Sharif PP-124, Sialkot; PP-141, Lahore; and PP-154, Lahore; Rana Muhammad Arshad PP-171, Sheikhupura; Wajid Dogar PP-229, Pakpattan; Sirdar Zulfikar Khosa PP-243, DG Khan; and Fida Husain Kaluka PP-277, Bahawalnagar.

Nominees for PP-10, Rawalpindi; PP-48, Bhakkar; PP-59, Faisalabad; PP-107, Hafizabad; and PP-118, Mandi Bahauddin will be decided later by party president Shahbaz Sharif, the release adds. — Staff Reporter
