KARACHI, May 28: Lums defeated Candyland in the final by three International Matches Points (Imps) at the Aslam Memorial Bridge Hall to emerge as national bridge champions on Wednesday.

Lums were trailing behind at crucial juncture in the final segment. But few exchanges brought them luck and they returned with 51-24 winning score, raising their score to 199 Imps as against 196 of Candyland to annex the crown.

By virtue of winning the title, Lums earned the right to represent Pakistan in the Bridge Olympiad to be held in Beijing, China, in October.

“It’s a great honour to represent the country in the Bridge Olympiad. We hope to bring glory and honour to the country,” beaming Lums captain Nauman Butt said after his side’s victory.—APP
