HANGU, May 27: Five people were killed and four others injured when two rival religious groups clashed in the Orakzai tribal region on Tuesday.

The clash took place between supporters of Ansarul Islam led by Mahboobul Haq and Lashkar-i-Islam of Mangal Bagh in the Kata Pana area of Orakzai.

The officials said that five activists of the Lashkar-i-Islam had been killed and three others injured. One supporter of Ansarul Islam was wounded.

Two vehicles were damaged in the gunbattle and Utmankhel tribesmen captured two vehicles of the Mangal Bagh group.

Sources said that the Mangal Bagh group which was operating in Bara and Jamrud tehsils of the Khyber tribal region had now extended its activities to the Orakzai region.
