PML-N too rejects tape

Published May 28, 2008

LAHORE, May 27: Punjab PML-N secretary-general Raja Ashfaq Sarwar and MNA Sheikh Rohail Asghar have rejected the phone tape released by the PML-Q as apolitical and a private talk between two individuals.

In a joint statement here, they said the tape did not involve politics and elections and, therefore, was an abortive attempt by the PML-Q leadership to remove stains from their hands.

Asghar had been recorded in the phone tape exchanging hot words with Naeem Shahzad, an independent candidate contesting against PML-N president Shahbaz Sharif from PP-154, Lahore. —Staff Reporter
