KARACHI, May 27: The additional district and sessions judge-VI, east, Abdul Razaq, put off the hearing of a bail application of Muhajir Quami Movement chief Afaq Ahmed in a kidnap and murder case till June 5.
The court summoned four prosecution witnesses to record their statements on the next hearing.
Afaq Ahmed, Amir Khan and their associates were charged with kidnapping Muhammad Farooq, Muhammad Tahir, Salman and M. Anwar, workers of the Muttahida Quami Movement, on June 19, 1992, in Landhi police limits. Later, they allegedly killed Muhammad Farooq.
Police registered a case (FIR No102/1992) under Sections 147, 148, 149, 324, 364, 302 of the Pakistan Penal Code on the complaint of Ismail Qureshi.
Fine imposed
The special judge of federal anti-corruption and emigration, central, Shaukat Ali Memon, on Tuesday imposed a fine of Rs5,000 each on 13 accused after finding them guilty of travelling to Muscat by using illegal means. In case of non-payment, the accused would have to undergo one month.
The accused were deported from Muscat in December 2007.
