Ex-tt player Shaheen expires

KARACHI, May 26: Former international table tennis player Shaheen Latif died in a Lahore hospital Monday evening after protracted illness. He was 56.

The deceased who was suffering from Kidney ailment since last eight months had represented the country at 1974 Tehran Asian Games, World, Asian and Commonwealth table tennis championships, apart from a number of other international events.

His two brothers Shahnawaz and Shah Jehan also have a long association with the game.

He is survived by a widow.

The burial of the deceased will be held at Gulshan Ravi graveyard on Tuesday at 10am. The funeral prayers will be offered at Usman Park, block F in Gulshan Ravi.

Meanwhile, the Pakistan Table Tennis Federation (PTTF), Sindh Table Tennis Association and Karachi Table Tennis Association have condoled the death.

A one-minute silence was also held at the Islamia Club where Karachi Table Tennis championship is in progress.—Sports Correspondent
