KARACHI, May 26: The civil judge and judicial magistrate-V, South, on Monday remanded five persons in jail custody till June 6.

They are accused of being involved in the lynching of three bandits in the Eidgah area on May 14.

According to the prosecution, a mob had beaten up and then immolated the bandits on Nishtar Road. The investigation officer of the case has shown around 1,000 people involved in the mob attack as absconders.

Prosecution witnesses identified two suspects when Faisal, Iftikhar, Farhan, Shafiqur Rahman and Iqbal were lined up for an identification parade.

The case (FIR No.72/08) was registered at the Eidgah police station against unknown persons.
