MINGORA, May 25: Landslides and flash floods triggered by torrential rains and hailstorm in upper Swat on Saturday night and Sunday morning killed 10 people, including six children. Reports reaching here said that the rains and hailstorm damaged orchards and standing crops.

Police said that boulders hit a house in Maidian, northeast of here, killing the six children – Shehnaz, Zamrud, Rafeeullah, Rahmat Bibi, Samia Bibi and Sabir. In Kalako locality of Matta tehsil, lighting hit a house, killing two people and injuring two others.

A man and a woman were killed in Bari Kot area when their car was swept away by hill torrents. Their bodies were retrieved when water receded.

Many parts of the NWFP and adjacent tribal areas have been receiving heavy rains for two days. There are reports of landslides in North and South Waziristan and damage to crops in Lower Dir.
