MANSEHRA, May 25: At least four persons were killed and more than 24 injured in a tribal feud over the ownership of a piece of land in Kaladhaka, a tribal area of Mansehra, on Sunday.

The people of Asladkhel and Usmankhel, two sub-tribes of Pasikhel tribe, had taken positions for the last three days at the hilltops against each other to take control of the disputed piece of land.

However, at the night between Saturday and Sunday both the tribes exchanged fire and pounded each other positions resulting in killing of four persons from both sides. More than 24 persons received bullet injuries in the clash.

Two of the deceased were identified as Gul Taj and Shah Zareen while the names of two others could not be confirmed till filing of the report.

Kaladhaka political tehsildar Jamshed Khan along with Tur Ghar Levies escaped unhurt as the warring factions opened fire at them when they visited the area to control the situation.

However, after hectic efforts the political tehsildar succeeded in brokering a ceasefire between the warring sub-tribes.

It was also decided that a jirga of local tribal elders would be set up to decide the ownership of the disputed piece of land.
