THATTA, May 24: A large number of feeder schools’ teachers staged rallies in Jati and Shah Bandar towns in protest against non-payment of salaries on Saturday.

Thatta District Nazim Syed Shafqat Hussain Shah Shirazi told a group of NCHD feeder teachers in Syedpur village that he would try to convince the authorities concerned to extend the tenure of National Commission for Human Development (NCHD) to keep intact the feeder schools and help the teachers earn their livelihood.

He said that closure of NCHD programmes in June this year, reportedly due to non-release of funds, would hamper the functioning of feeder schools, particularly in the far-off coastal areas.

He said that the district government was already contributing a stipend of Rs2,500 in addition to Rs1,500 paid by the NCHD to the teachers.
