KARACHI, May 21: The newly appointed managing-director of the Karachi Water and Sewerage Board, Suleman Chandio, on Wednesday asked KWSB officials to help increase the board’s revenue and steer it out of the current financial crisis.

He was presiding over a meeting of the KWSB’s senior engineers and officers shortly after assuming the chair of the utility’s managing director.

According to a press release, Mr Chandio asked the officials to ensure that all expenses were incurred in accordance with the board’s income.

Referring to the KWSB proposed development plans such as the 600mgd K-IV water project and S-III, aimed at treating sewage of the entire city before its disposal into the sea, he urged the officials to ensure that all these projects were planned in advance to avoid delays in their completion.

He also requested the government to assist the KWSB in taking the utility out of its present financial crisis and help provide funds for all the development projects that were in the pipeline.

He also directed the officials to attend to public complaints about water and sewerage on a top priority basis and make the KWSB a consumer-friendly organization.
