KARACHI, May 20: Sindh Food Minister Mir Nadir Magsi led a raid on a godown in Shershah and “recovered and confiscated” 20,000 to 25,000 tons of wheat, says an official press release issued here on Tuesday.

The press release does not mention the name of the owner of the godown. The minister warned of more such raids on godowns to trace and seize hoarded wheat.

The raid was carried out a day after flour millers complained of having run out of wheat and demanded release of the grain from government stocks at Rs1,800 for 100kg per bag. Traders and millers say bulk of wheat is hoarded in rural areas of the province.
