Three hurt in roof collapse

LAHORE, May 19: Two teenaged girls and their mother sustained minor injuries when dilapidated roof of their house collapsed near Bund Road in Badami Bagh area on Monday.

According to Rescue 1122 officials, the roof made of straws and bamboos caved in leaving three inmates -- Razia, Sadaf (13) and Roobi (14) -- trapped in the debris.

Police said a mason was doing some repairs on the roof at the time of its collapse.

Locals started rescue work, besides calling the rescuers.

The rescue officials managed to evacuate the three women and shifted them to the Mayo Hospital. —Staff Reporter
