KARACHI, May 18: The Darakhshan police have arrested two robbers while they allegedly broke into an apartment in the Seaview area on Sunday, officials said.

The suspected robbers were identified as Nadeem and Abdul Sattar, who entered the apartment in Block 49 and took the family hostage at gunpoint.

“However, a servant of the apartment escape the scene and called police,” said Azad Khan, SP of Clifton. “Area police rushed to the spot and arrested both of them after a brief shootout.”

He said the police seized cellphones, cash, a car and other valuables robbed in different places by the robbers.

“We expect more leads during the course of further investigations,” he added.

Meanwhile, the Sachal police nabbed an alleged bandit caught red-handed by area people while he was snatching a cellphone in the Sohrab Goth area, police said.

“Hearing the news, police rushed to the spot fearing lynching of the robber by enraged people,” an official said.

The police negotiated with the public who handed over the suspect to the police.
