HYDERABAD, May 18: The on-going dispute on the bus ‘startership’ in Tand Allahyar between the Zardari and Kaimkhani groups has taken a serious turn in which six person were reportedly injured on Sunday in a clash between the two groups.

The unofficial post of ‘starter’ at all the bus stands is a lucrative business and it has always been controlled in every town and city by those elements who had muscles.

According to a police source, the bus stand at Tando Allahyar generates an income of Rs7,000 per day to the group which controls the bus stand.

Sources said that the bus stand at Tando Allahyar had remained in the control of Kaimkhanis but the situation has changed following the February 18 elections and now the other group is trying to assert its authority over the bus stand leading to clashes and aerial firing between the two groups almost every day.

A responsible police officer, requesting anonymity, told this correspondent on Sunday that the district administration and the police were totally helpless and watching everything as silent spectators as both the groups were being supported by powerful parties in the Sindh government. He did not rule out bloodshed at the bus stand in the near future.

Reports reaching here from Tando Allahyar said that in today’s clash, sticks and iron rods were freely used in which six person were injured. They included: Shahid Kaimkhani, Haris Aziz, Hussnain Aziz, Abdur Rasheed, Sabir Ali Zardari and Imran Makrani.

However, when Tando Allahyar police was contacted on telephone, a police man said that clashes at the bus stand over the startership had become a routine and the police were not in a position to take any action against any group.

Another source said that two days back, someone in authority had convened a meeting of the two warring groups and proposed that the daily income should be distributed equally between them but the proposal was rejected.

The situation warrants immediate intervention of the high-ups to avoid any future bloodshed.
