MULTAN, May 15: About 39 powerlooms workers arrested for riots against prolonged loadshedding on April 14, were released here on Thursday from the district jail.

The total number of arrested workers was 46 and seven could not be released due to their incomplete documents, powerlooms association secretary-general Khaliq Qandeel said.

New Multan police had arrested the workers under Anti-Terrorism Act on April 14 and sent them to the district jail. An ATC sent the case to the area magistrate after withdrawing terrorism charges against them. The area magistrate granted bail to all the accused on the surety bond of Rs30,000.
