MULTAN, May 15: All Pakistan Oil Tankers Owners Association on Thursday held a protest demonstration outside the local press club against the administrations of PSO, Attock Refinery and an MNA of ruling party from Muzaffargarh.

The protesters, led by association president Mir Muhammad Yousaf Shehwani, blocked Abdali Road by parking their tankers and demanded increase in freight charges.

Addressing the protesters, Mr Shehwani said the oil companies were reluctant to increase freight charges as a result tankers owners were facing a financial crunch. He alleged that MNA Jamshaid Dasti was the leader of `mixing mafia’ and demanded money from oil tankers owners.

Mixing mafia means people who adulterate oil. “We will suspend oil supply from all depots if our demands are not met within 48 hours,” Shehwani said. When contacted Dasti termed the allegations baseless.
