CSK recover from poor start

MUMBAI, May 14: Subramaniam Badrinath and Mahendra Singh Dhoni brought Chennai Super Kings back from the edge of almost certain defeat to pose a teaser for Mumbai Indians, as they reached 156-6 in the Indian Premier League clash here at the Wankhede Stadium on Wednesday.

Dhoni and Badrinath were involved in 95-run partnership which carried Chennai to a pretty decent total, which looked impossible at one stage.

Badrinath scored a fine 53, while Dhoni scored 43 not out.

Shaun Pollock bowled four overs for just nine runs.

Earlier, Sachin Tendulkar returned to serious cricket, and won the toss against Chennai Super Kings, deciding to field first.

Playing his first game of the IPL, Tendulkar’s arrival certainly adds to the morale of the Mumbai team, though they, on form alone, should be better placed than Chennai.

Chennai have 12 points from nine games, while Mumbai have six points, but have played two games less. While the hosts would be keen to make a foray towards the semi-finals, Chennai would be keen to strengthen their chances.—Agencies
