TOBA TEK SINGH, April 28: To make the referendum a success on April 30, the district Nazim has announced an incentive to Nazimeen of union councils.
Speaking to Nazimeen here on Sunday, district Nazim Chaudhry Muhammad Ashfaq said that “A” grade would be given to those union councils which would cast more votes in various towns, tehsils and areas of the district.
He said “A” grade union councils would be given Rs1 million extra development grant after the referendum.
The district Nazim urged the Nazimeen to bring more and more voters to the polling stations to cast votes in favour of Gen Pervez Musharraf.
IMPOUNDING: The impounding of buses and wagons for referendum continued on the second consecutive day on Sunday by police and district government officials.
Scores of buses and wagons have been withdrawn from highways and link roads by their owners for the fear of impounding. Hundreds of helpless commuters are forced to travel in trucks, motorcycle rickshaws and taxis who are fleecing them with both hands.
When contacted, an official said the administration was taking into custody the transport to send the staff to polling stations on referendum duty for which they would be paid.
Transporters said they had no objection if the government hired transport for a day, but the impounding of vehicles three or four days ahead of referendum was unjustified.
