KARACHI: Phones out of order

Published May 11, 2008

KARACHI, May 10: Several telephones out of order for many months have not been restored despite repeated complaints lodged with the PTCL.

Subscribers, enraged by the utility’s apathy, complained of “illegal disconnection”.

A subscriber from Gulistan-i-Jauhar, Munawar Khan, told Dawn that his phone (4632953) had been out of order for over three months. He said that complaints were made to the divisional engineer of the exchange, but to no avail. The matter was also brought to the knowledge of SDO Block-II, but to no avail. Similar complaints were also lodged by subscribers of telephone numbers 4638527, 4638574, 4611374, 4616696, 4615076, 4610086, 4665947, 4632953, 4610706 and 4612244.

Efforts by Dawn to get the PTCL’s version from the divisional engineer concerned failed as there was no response from phone numbers 4614545, 4030786 and 4010786 despite repeated attempts. Same was the fate of calls made to the SDO on phone numbers 4610018, 4610019 and 4612235.—Our Reporter
