KARACHI, May 9: The Federal Investigation Agency conducted a raid at a godown of books and arrested its owner on charges of piracy under the Copyrights Ordinance.

Sources close to the FIA said that the raid was conducted at the National Booksellers premises in Urdu Bazaar. The officials recovered a huge quantity of pirated textbooks of the Oxford University Press, including New Active English, New Oxford Social Studies for Pakistan, Nardban-i-Urdu and Islamiyat for O Levels. Proprietor of the National Booksellers Majeed Gaba was also arrested after the raid.

FIA Director Mir Zubair Mehmood confirmed Mr Gaba’s arrest, saying that a three-day remand of the proprietor was obtained from the court on Friday.
