LAYYAH, May 6: The mutilated body of a young woman was found from Hira Minor canal near Chak 145-TDA, some 12 kilometres away from here, on Tuesday. Though the motive behind the cold-blooded murder was not ascertained as yet, it appeared that the enmity of a graver magnitude operated behind the gruesome episode.

Unidentified assailants slaughtered the woman in her mid twenties and later threw her naked body into the canal. The Sadar police took the body to DHQ Hospital where duty woman medical officer, Dr Sajida, conducted her autopsy.

Talking to Dawn, Dr. Sajida said that the girl had been murdered 24 hours before her body had been recovered. She said that wounds caused by a sharp-edged weapon were found on the victim’s lower half of body including vital organs.
