THATTA, Oct 23: Thatta district Nazim Syed Shafqat Hussain Shah Shirazi has hinted at seeking police help in getting the children from remote areas admitted to primary schools if his district government’s efforts failed to motivate their parents in this regard.

He made such observation while presiding over a meeting of supervisors, SDEOs and other officials of Education Department on the eve of launching admission campaign with a target of getting 50,000 students admitted to primary schools in the district this year.

He said political intervention and gratification had destroyed the academic institutions in the district, adding that the absenteeism of teachers in connivance with the education officials was also a major reasons for declining literacy graph.

He warned that those responsible for ruining the future of next generation would be dealt with iron hand.

Shirazi directed the taluka and union council Nazims and councillors to go door to door and spread the awareness about the importance of education among parents.

The district Nazim announced to initiate the campaign with providing motorcycle to 25 supervisors to promptly visit the schools in far-flung areas.

He also promised travelling allowance for the teachers serving in remote areas of the district.

He said that he had already furnished list of those schools being run in huts or under open sky, adding that his government would not tolerate school buildings being used as Otaqs of landlords and would get them vacated irrespective of their social and political influence.

MOSQUE SURVEY: The revenue collectors (Tapedars) have been assigned here to furnish the detailed information about the existing mosques, the average attendance of prayers and their relation to religious schools of thoughts in Thatta district.
