OKARA, May 2: Dozens of men attacked a mosque and the adjacent seminary and thrashed the prayer leader and students busy reciting the Holy Quran in Ghafoor Colony at 27/2-L on Friday night.

Reports said residents of the colony attacked Adnanul Uloom and the adjacent mosque and roughed up prayer leader Qari Dilshad Ahmad. The attackers did not even spare students and subjected them to torture as well.

In the meantime, a seminary student started announcement on a loudspeaker that they were being mauled by some miscreants. In no time, a large number of people rushed to the mosque and overpowered five of the attackers.

B-Division SHO Tariq Awan along with a police contingent and provincial minister Ashraf Khan Sohna also reached there and brought the situation under control. However, the reasons behind the incident could not be ascertained till the filing of this report. Police have registered a case against 21 people, including five nominated accused.
