KAHNEWAL, May 2: Growers in Pakistan get the lowest wheat price against the highest rates of outputs like fuel, fertilisers, seeds, electricity and pesticides as compared to other countries, according to wheat cultivators.

A group of progressive farmers met on Friday, wherein Punjab Commerce and Trade Secretary Tahir Raza Naqvi was also present.

Growers complained that the Food Department paid insufficient loading and unloading expenses as compared to Pasco.

The secretary said the government would cooperate with wheat growers and would continue to monitor every stage of the ongoing wheat procurement drive.

Earlier, Mr Naqvi, along with Elite Force DIG Saeed Gull and District Coordination Officer Qazi Ashfaq, inspected wheat centers in Katchakhu.

The DOC said the department had set up various complaint centers where growers could lodge their complaints regarding wheat sale and purchase and unavailability of sacks.
