NAWABSHAH, May 2: A child died of gastroenteritis and dozens of others suffering from the disease approached the Nawabshah Medical College Hospital and other medical centres of the district during last 24 hours.

Six-year old Mohammad Farooq s/o Ghulam Ali Khaskheli of Village Dorai Mahar village was vomiting and suffering from diarrhoea.

Dr Sikandar Ali Mari, Incharge Rural Health Centre Qazi Ahmed told Dawn the patient was brought to the centre on Thursday but was already dead.

Dozens of other cases including a good number of children were reported in the NMC hospital and other health centres of the district.

Meanwhile, the district continued to remain in the grip of heat wave here on Friday. The maximum temperature recorded was 47 degree Celsius.

WHEAT BAGS SEIZED: A team of Food Department along with contingents of Rangers and police seized 1,870 wheat bags, here on Friday.

The team and Rangers and police stopped four trailers on the National Highway near Qazi Ahmed and recovered 1,870 wheat bags. Zila Nazim had imposed ban on the transportation of wheat and flour from the district.

STOLEN: Some unidentified persons stole a car belonging to Jai Kumar outside a local restaurant near Fire Brigade Station on Thursday.
