ISLAMABAD, May 1: Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani here on Thursday directed the concerned authorities to bring the accused involved in an assault on a student of medical college to book.

The girl, resident of Kotli Azad Kashmir, was kidnapped and subjected to assault by four persons in Rawalpindi in February.

The prime minister asked the Punjab government and relevant officials to ensure that all the accused were arrested. He asked the authorities to take stern action against the accused so that such incidents are not repeated anywhere in the country.

He issued these directions after MNA Farzana Raja presented a report to him at the PM House. She had visited the victim and her parents in Kotli Azad Kashmir two days earlier.

The prime minister after viewing a special report on a private television channel about the incident had specially sent Ms Raja as his envoy to visit the victim and console her. He had asked her to find the facts and give him a report on the incident.

The MNA informed the PM that after her visit to the house of the victim and her family, two culprits have been arrested. The main accused, she said, had already been arrested while the fourth is still at large.

She also apprised the prime minister about her findings after looking into all the details.—Our Reporter
