MANSEHRA, April 30: NWFP Governor Owais Ahmad Ghani has said that militants were playing in the hands of enemies to destabilise Pakistan.

Speaking at the second convocation of Hazara University here on Wednesday, the governor said that militants were neither fighting the holy war jihad nor working for the supremacy of Islam.

“I want to make it clear that despite militancy, energy shortage and prices hike as a brave nation and atomic power we will face all problems with courage and overcome them soon,” he added.

The British kingdom, he said, after conquering the subcontinent, introduced the elite educational system to prolong their rule.

Unfortunately the elite educational system was still in work in the country for the last 60 years, he said, adding that it was high time to develop modern and effective syllabi.

The governor said that policy maskers had realised to invest more in the higher education, which would create true leadership in politics, business, education, medicines and science.

“We as true Muslims should also develop the religious teachings and education on unique and modern way as without the Islamic education we would not be able to prove our identity,” he added. He showed optimism about the bright future of the country.

He appreciated the efforts of Vice-chancellor Dr Ihsan Ali to rehabilitate Hazara University after October 8, 2005 earthquake.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr Ihsan said that 501 graduates and 61 gold medalist had been passing out which was a great honour for him and the institution. He said that currently 59 PhDs were attached with the university and two were sent abroad for PhD.
