KARACHI, April 26: The Pakistan College Teachers’ Association, a body of nationalized cadre teachers, has demanded of the government to stop notification pertaining to promotion of college teachers in Grade 20 on the recommendations of the selection board.

A meeting of the teachers’ body was held the other day with Professor Nafisa Qidwai, the president of the association, in the chair. The meeting observed that if promotions were made in line with the recommendations of the selection board, then a number of senior teaches would be deprived of their legitimate right, while junior teachers would get promotion.

The meeting thanked the Sindh education department for issuing a joint seniority list of government and nationalized cadre teachers of Grade 19, which was according to a decision of the Supreme Court and based on parity system, said a press release of the association.

The body also mentioned that teachers belonging to it were not bound to accept any decision made by any other teachers’ body and announced their disassociation from any protest campaign.
