HYDERABAD, April 21: The employer and relatives of Gul Mohammad Bhatti of Tahir Hingoro village have accused police of kidnapping and holding him incommunicado.
Speaking during a news conference at the press club on Monday, Gul Mohammad’s employer Ghulam Akbar Hingoro, his mother Sharifan and sisters Aasti and Muradaan alleged that on the midnight of April 14, the SHO Oderolal police station Imtiaz Domki along with a contingent of police raided their house, tortured family members and took Bhatti away.
Ghulam Akbar Hingoro said Bhatti had not been shown arrested and his whereabouts unknown. He said a petition was also filed in the Sindh High Court on April 16 against the arrest of Gul Mohammad Bhatti and the alleged highhandedness of police officers.
He appealed to the authorities to take legal action against SHO Imtiaz Domki and DSP Ahmed Khan Jamali and ensure recovery of Gul Mohammad Bhatti.
POWERHOUSES: Chairman, All Pakistan Powerhouses Administration Committee, Mohammad Sajan Panhwar, Mohammad Hanif Ansari and Anwar Sher Lodhi have hailed the decision of Federal Services Tribunal Chairman, Justice (Rtd) Tanvir Basheer Ansari and member, Saeed Ahmed Zaidi to hear the appeals of Wapda employees.
In a statement issued here on Monday, they said that it had now become possible for 650 Wapda employees against whom action had been taken under the 2002 Ordinance (removal from service) to get justice.
They said these employees were now entitled to file their appeals in the Federal Services Tribunal against the unilateral action of Wapda.
They also appealed to the federal minister for labour Mr Khursheed Ahmed Shah to expedite the issuance of notification in accordance with the announcement of the prime minister for the repeal of IRO-2002 to end unrest among workers.
