Cancer patient commits suicide

ISLAMABAD, April 20: A cancer patient committed suicide by tying himself with the ceiling fan in a house at G-10/2 on Sunday, police said.

Apparently, the protracted illness drove him to distress and he took the extreme step, said the police.

Maslahuddin Farid, 36, who held a master’s degree in science, was living in the house along with his family and in-laws. He was getting treatment from Nori Hospital for the last six months.

On Saturday, he visited the hospital along with his brother Salahuddin.

His wife went to the room to wake him up on Sunday morning and found his body hanging from the ceiling fan. The family informed the police who shifted the body to the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences.

The deceased married five years ago had two children, police said, adding he was jobless for the last a couple of months.
