SUKKUR: Rs3.5m paid in ransom

SUKKUR, April 20: Five members of the Memon community, who were kidnapped by armed bandits from Baberloi bypass on March 13, returned home on Sunday after their relatives paid Rs3.5 ransom to the kidnappers.

Rizwan, Farooq, Zubair, Kamran and Shakir, resident of Halar Complex, Miani Road, Sukkur, had gone to Baberloi bypass to attend a religious gathering. They were kidnapped by armed dacoits while they were returning to Sukkur.

According to their relatives, the kidnappers released them after getting Rs.3.5 millions ransom. They said that earlier the kidnappers had demanded Rs5 million ransom but, after negotiations, agreed to Rs3.5 million ransom.

They said that the released kidnap victims had been shifted to Karachi.
