QUETTA, April 12: Traders and some residents of the Sariab area on Saturday blocked a road in protest against the kidnapping of a local shopkeeper.

Armed people abducted Sham Lal on Friday night from his shop on the Sariab road.

The Anjuman-i-Tajran Baloch-istan threatened to observe a strike if the government failed to recover the shopkeeper.

The protesters later ended the blockade on the assurance of city nazim Mir Maqbool Lehri that the abducted shopkeeper would be recovered soon.

Addressing a news conference, Anjuman-i-Tajran Balochistan president Abdur Rahim Kakar and BNP-Mengal secretary-general Habib Jalib Baloch expressed concern over growing incidents of kidnapping and robbery in the province.
