LAHORE, April 21: The 64th death anniversary of poet-philosopher Allama Muhammad Iqbal was observed here on Sunday.

Representatives of various political, social, cultural, literary organizations, trade unions, educational institutions, students and teachers visited the mazar of Allama Iqbal on Sunday.

They placed floral wreaths and offered fateha. They included the workers of the Nazaria-i-Pakistan Foundation led by its chairman Majid Nizami, Pakistan Movement Workers Trust, All Pakistan Federation of Trade Unions, Quaid-i-Azam Forum, Madar-i-Millat Educational Society, All Pakistan Private Schools Management Association.

Qari Abdul Majid recited the verses from Holy Quran. Qari Hafiz Marghoob Ahmad Hamadani presented naat and verses from Allama Iqbal’s poems.

Meanwhile, the All Pakistan Federation of Trade Unions (APFTU) and Wapda Hydro Electric Central Labour Union (WHECLU) organized function at Bakhtiar Labour Hall to pay homage to the poet-philosopher.

Speaking on the occasion, their leaders said Allama Iqbal gave a message to the working class through his poetry to fight against the evil forces in society and never bow before the oppressors.

They said the working class would follow Iqbal’s sayings and continue its struggle against such elements in society.
