RAWALPINDI, April 21: Various political groups and individuals, who have put up banners in support of the presidential referendum, have not paid municipal taxes for displaying these banners, sources said.
The Tehsil Municipal Administration charges Rs100 per week for a non-commercial banner. According to rough estimates there are about 5,000 to 6,000 banners put up in different localities. The Tehsil Nazim and his relatives alone have displayed 3,000 banners, their close aides claimed.
Going by these figures, the TMA was entitled to collect a minimum of Rs2 million in revenues.—Staff Reporter
