KARACHI, April 2: The Defence Housing Authority has decided to shift maintenance responsibilities of horticulture, water and sewerage to the Cantonment Board Clifton (CBC) in phases over the next two years.

The decision came up at a meeting of DHA Executive Board, presided over by Corps Commander Lieutenant General Ahsan Azhar Hayat who is also the president of DHA Executive Board, held at 5 Corps Headquarters on Wednesday.

The meeting reviewed the pace of progress of various projects in Defence. It was informed that the construction work of main trunk drains and interconnecting laterals and revamping of sewerage system was under way.

Appreciating the pace of development work, the corps commander directed the officials concerned that the drainage infrastructure must be completed before the start of monsoon so that residents should not face problems.

The board lauded the progress on implementing revised town plan of DHA Phase-VIII. The meeting was informed that the exercise would entail minimum shifting and adjustment of residential plots.

It would result in creation of more open and green space in the area.

The meeting was informed that several development projects in Defence had been completed or initiated during the current fiscal year. They included carpeting of main avenues, electrification of major roads, revamping of water pipelines, construction of girls’ college and Bund Road project.
