KARACHI, April 21: The police recovered weapons, ammunition and chemicals used for explosions on Sunday, when it raided a place on a lead given by detained suspects allegedly involved in firing on a prisoners’ van and rocket explosion.

An investigation officer in Investigation-II said that the police arrested Faisal and Sabir Waseem for their involvement in firing on a prisoners’ van on Feb 28 in Nabi Bux police limits, and in firing a rocket on Nov 23 that had hit a portion of Government Commerce College on Dr Ziauddin Ahmed Road near the Rangers Headquarters in Jinnah Courts.

The suspects led the police to their hideout, where the police recovered a light machinegun, a rocket launcher along with rocket and its charger, pins of hand-grenades and chemicals which are used in explosions.

The police registered another case against the suspects for keeping illegal weapons. The suspects had been remanded in police custody till April 26 in the cases of firing on the prisoners’ van and firing a rocket on the college.
