JUI-F not consulted on plan: Fazl

Published March 31, 2008

ISLAMABAD, March 30: Chief of his own faction of Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam Maulana Fazlur Rahman has said that he is not aware of a committee formed by Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani to address his reservations over the planned repeal of the Frontier Crimes Regulations (FCR).

Responding to a question regarding a clarification by the government that the 100-day programme announced by the prime minister in the National Assembly had been prepared in consultation with coalition partners, he said his party had not been consulted.

Maulana Fazl told Dawn on Sunday that he was ready to talk to the prime minister on the issues he had raised in the National Assembly on Saturday.

Prime Minister Gilani had announced after the maulana’s speech in the house that a committee comprising Syed Naveed Qamar and Khurshid Shah would look into the matter relating to the FCR.
